A friend of mine is hard of hearing and must wear a hearing aid. She likes to go to NYC Broadway shows, but her hearing aid does not work. The words from the actors are not clear.
For her issue, she wears over-the-ears infrared headphones on top of her personal hearing aid. While theaters that seat over 50 people are required to provide hearing assistance, smaller theaters are not always equipped.
I found a company that donates free hearing aids (at some theaters) during show times.
For this hearing device you need to make a reservation with the company and they will deliver this "special" hearing aid to the box office. No charge. All you need is to give some information and show a licensed ID card (i.e. drivers license, NYC ID card). It’s so easy, and now she can enjoy more shows!
